Despite attempts to forestall a closing, the Consulate General of Canada in Buffalo will shutter its offices here on August 27th. Business First reports 75 to 80 employees will be out of work; half of those workers are American citizens.

Buffalo-based M&T Bank will lease more office space for its mortgage operations in Albany. That will bring in thirty new jobs.
Liberty Vineyards & Winery of Sheridan, New York earned a Chairman's Award and Best of Class for its popular "Reds, Whites and Blues" wine at the recent Riverside International Wine Competition in California. The winery also received a number of additional medals at that competition and at the Taster's Guild International Wine Competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
