Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver has issued a statement renewing his call for increasing New York State's minimum wage. Silver cites the fact that a Quinnipiac Poll shows 79% of New Yorkers stand behind a higher minimum wage as the reason that "every elected official should be listening to the people they represent on this important issue."

Buffalo Niagara has broken into the top 20 in numbers of overseas visitors to the US. The Federal Government's Office of Travel and Tourism numbers show that 335,000 visitors from outside the US, Canada, and Mexico came to Buffalo/Niagara Falls last year. That bumped Tampa/St. Pete off the list.
