Jurors Asking Judge on Charges

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Jurors in the James Corasanti case have been asking Judge Sheila DiTullio several questions as the deliberations continue.

The jury has asked DiTullio if the verdict on a lesser charge must be unanimous. They were told the verdict must be unanimous and could vote to convict on both, one or neither. The jury had sent a note indicating confusion on how they must vote.

The jury has also told DiTullio they considered both DWI counts but are unanimous on only one. Asking if they need to be unanimous on both, the jury was told they do not need to be unanimous on both, but their verdict on one must be unanimous. The jury says there's a unanimous verdict on charge, but not the other. DiTullio says that's ok, but if jurors are deadlocked on any charge, the court should know.

Corasanti is facing five charges in all: vehicular manslaughter, manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and tampering with physical evidence.
