Wallenda Goes Online to Raise Money for Falls Walk

Niagara Falls, NY (WBEN) Ten days and counting before Nik Wallenda attempts to cross Niagara Falls on a tightrope, and his manager says money is needed to cover increasing costs. Wallenda has gone online to appeal for financial help.

See the video HERE.

"The walk is in deficit," says Wallenda's manager Winston Simone. "We would like to not have it in deficit, it's simple as that." Simone says one way is an online campaign through www.indiegogo.com.

"That essentially came about because when we were talking about this, so many nice people came to us asking how they could help. This is a way for them to help and get something in return," explains Simone. Those thank you gifts include photos, autographs, and a VIP view of the walk plus dinner with Wallenda.

Simone says there's also a search for a sponsor. "We're tirelessly looking for a sponsor for the media event after the walk," explains Simone which is not as easy as it seems. "We didn't have a lot of time, and that was a challenge. People have budgets locked up and the economy, despite people saying it's getting better is still challenged."

Simone says expenses have increased unexpectedly. "The rigging is expensive, the engineering is expensive. Not dissimilar to building a house, you have unforeseen costs, and this is costing us over $1 million," explains Simone.

No matter what happens with the fund raising efforts, Simone says the walk is "100 percent on" June 15th. The fund raising will continue until the end of this month.

we will get right on that........
Niagara Falls Ontario is getting the 7 course meal out of this shindig while NF NY is getting the usual hand job and smoke blown up it's backside. This whole deal is a farce that will leave the area with it's usual postion of looking stupid.

I'm surprised U.B. Orthopedics isn't jumping at this one!
