12-Person Jury, Alternates Chosen in Sandusky Case

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) - The jurors who will be asked to render a verdict in Jerry Sandusky's child sexual abuse case are in place.

The seven women and five men on the main panel and four alternates were selected Tuesday and Wednesday in a central Pennsylvania courthouse.

Opening statements by prosecutors and his defense lawyers won't be made until Monday. The trial is expected to last several weeks.

The 68-year-old former Penn State assistant coach faces charges he abused 10 boys, including attacks in his home and in campus athletic showers. He's denied the allegations, and could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.

Many of the jurors have ties to Penn State, the state's largest university with its main campus in nearby State College.
