FBI Offers Reward in Arson, Possible Hate Crime

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of an alleged co-conspirator in a pair of fires in 2011.

58 year old Michael Fijal is charged with arson in connection with the case, but investigators don't believe he acted alone. The FBI says the motive is under investigation..

On two occasions in 2011, an individual or individuals started a fire at 179 Mackinaw Street, which is located in Buffalo’s Old First Ward neighborhood. The first arson occurred on March 12, 2011, and the second arson occurred on May 22, 2011. No civilians were killed or injured as a result of the fires, but a firefighter was injured fighting the fire on May 22, 2011. The house was deemed a total loss after the second fire and was demolished.

Anyone with information should contact the FBI at 716-856-7800 or the ATF at 716-853-5070.
