Buffalo, NY (WBEN) By a 7-2 vote, Dr. Pamela Brown has been voted the new superintendent of Buffalo Public Schools.

The Buffalo School Board took the vote at the beginning of its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday evening.  Board had no discussion before taking the vote.

Brown is currently serving as senior research and planning associate for the Center for Educational Leadership and Technology in Marlborough, Mass. Prior to her role there, Brown served as assistant superintendent and chief academic officer in the Philadelphia school district and the one serving the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area of North Carolina.

In the final vote count, board president Lou Petrucci was one of the two no votes. Board member Jason McCarthy was the other.

In reaction, Sam Radford, president of District-Parent Coordinating Council commended the board for its diligence in choosing the next superintendent and also commended the search firm that help the district select candidates for the position.

Brown takes over for Dr. James Williams, who retired last year. Amber Brown has served as interim superintendent since last fall.
