State Senator George Maziarz says he was able to spend some with Wallenda following Friday's night's tight-rope walk across the Falls. Maziarz had supported Wallenda's effort to make the walk, and says it couldn't have turned out any better.
"Thousands of people in downtown Niagara Falls. Thousands of people within the state park. It was really a good night. The international coverage was excellent.," Maziarz says.
Meantime, Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak released the following statement on Saturday:
“Congratulations to Nik Wallenda on successfully crossing the Niagara Gorge. This historic walk fulfilled a lifelong dream of Nik's. He is a man of outstanding courage and character and a living example that if you put your mind to something you can accomplish your dreams.
“A lot of hard work went into making this event possible and I am honored to have had the opportunity to take part in this historical event from the beginning by sponsoring the legislation in the Assembly. Tonight’s walk showcased Western New York on the world’s stage and will be forever remembered in history.”
