Erie County Road Crews Busy This Summer

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) You know the old joke about Buffalo's "two seasons," right? Winter and construction? Construction season is underway and Erie County's road crews will be getting to work.

The biggest project will be along Eden-Evans Center Road, says Charlie Sickler, Director of Engineering for the Erie County Department of Public Works. "It's a mile and a half, and once we get it done, it should not have to be touched for 25 years," explains Sickler.

Sickler says there will also be bridge projects in Newstead and in West Seneca. He concedes traffic will be restricted, but "summer is the only time we can do this important construction work and we hope the inconvenience will be worth it long term."

Sickler says potholes won't be as much an issue because of the mild winter we had. He says crews will be able to use the hot patch to seal up potholes sooner.

"Sickler says potholes won't be as much an issue because of the mild winter we had." I wonder if he has ever driven down Lake Ave from Route 5 in Woodlawn to Five Corners in OP, which is a county road. Potholes and rolling pavement arethe norm there.
