Where Is Wire From Wallenda Walk? What's Next?

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) It's been one week since Nik Wallenda successfully traversed Niagara Falls on a tightrope. Now, the high wire has been stored, but where will it go next?

Mike Parkes of O'Connell Electric says at the moment, the wire is at the company's warehouse, "I know Nik was sending a truck out to pick up the wire along with miscellaneous rigging components he had for the job."

Parkes has also heard rumblings about what will happen to the wire down the road.

"From what I've heard in the rumor mill, he intends to cut it up into small pieces, and keep some for himself and give as souvenirs to friends and family, and then sell the rest of it," says O'Connell, who notes there was 2,300 feet of wire used in the historic walk.

O'Connell says he'd like to be able to buy a piece ot frame in the company offices, if pieces of the wire go on sale.

He says supplying Wallenda with the wire was one of the most rewarding projects the company's ever had.
