Buffalo Business Report - Monday, June 25th 2012



The local gas price slipped three cents over the weekend. The AAA reports it now costs an average of $3.68 for a gallon of unleaded. Buffalo's gas prices are the highest of all the state's metro regions except for New York City.

Coming soon to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus corridor - a new eatery. A UB School of Medicine surgical resident and her business partner are working on a restaurant with a Southeast Asian flair. A late July opening in the Sidway Building is planned.

A new poll by Canadian Press-Harris Decima concludes that relaxed cross-border shopping limits in effect since June 1st have had a positive impact for American businesses. 54% of Canadian shoppers plan to spend more of their money in the U.S. Four in ten say they were likely to purchase more duty-free goods.

The Niagara Gazette reports the Niagara Falls City School Board has hired RNSHI Consulting, Incorporated to monitor a capital improvement project. The contract is for $100,000.
