Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The polling places will be the same as Republicans decide who they want to challenge Kathy Hochul in November in the 27th Congressional District. But the fact a primary is happening in June may not help in getting a huge turnout.
In Erie County, Republican Elections Commissioner Ralph Mohr says polls will open at 6am today. He says turnout for New York's presidential primary was six percent, and for today's primary, "We could see low teens, especially in the areas within the 27th district," says Mohr.
The fact a primary is being held in June is unusual, and could be one of the reasons for a projected low turnout says Richard Siebert, Genesee County Republican Elections Commissioner. But Siebert says there have been no change in who votes in the race, only the number of the district has changed.
He says the county's done all it can to let people know about the primary. "We sent out the legal notices," says Siebert, "but it's up to the candidates to get their people to the polls and vote."
Who cares what the citizens want; the Citizens United decision ensured that our billionaire overlords can now choose our lawmakers, who will represent them faithfully. Congratulations, right wing extremists, you've finally destroyed America.
