Amherst's Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board have signed off on plans for a $15 million mixed-use development project near UB's North Campus. Business First reports the joint Bevilacqua Development and Ellicott Development Company project includes a pair of four-story buildings and a hotel near UB's Center for Inquiry on Sweet Home Road.

First Niagara Financial Group has worked to pay off debt and improve its balance sheet risk profile. It has done so by selling $3.1 billion in mortgage-backed securities.

Allegiant Air has announced discounted direct flights between Niagara Falls and Punta Gorda, Florida. Those twice weekly flights will start tomorrow.

Tops Friendly Markets has bought the North Boston Market Place supermarket for an undisclosed price. The market will close for a day July 9th and re-open the following day as a Tops store.
