Deputy Pleads Guilty to Violating Inmate's Rights

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) An Erie County Sheriff's deputy faces up to a year in jail after he pleaded guilty to violating the civil rights of an inmate at the Erie County Holding center.

40 year old Thomas Thompson admitted to recruiting other deputies to join him in searching a cell at the holding center for a report of drugs.

Thompson asked the victim which inmate had the drugs.

When the search of the inmate chosen by the victim turned up nothing, Thompson told the victim he had to be punched in the gut, and was punched after picking one of the guards.
