Paladino: waterfront development too slow

Buffalo (WBEN) -- A well known Buffalo developer just shakes his head when he thinks about development at the waterfront.

Real estate developer Carl Paladino freely admits "I'm one of those impatient guys. I don't think it's moved fast enough."

The founder and chairman of Ellicott Development Company says he blames the hold-up on certain individuals in the community.

"People that don't have any business looking at real-estate development have hindered the development of the Canalside project ... it's just terrible," Paladino says.

Paladino says he still wonders what could've been with the Bass Pro Shops project on the waterfront, and says to kill it for -- what he called -- cynical reasons -- was just "so wrong."

He says it would've been a huge retail presence in that area, and a catalyst for further development.
