Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Sabres have traded Derek Roy to the Dallas Stars.
The Sabres will acquire Steve Ott and Adam Pardy in the deal.
Roy was drafted by the Sabres in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He cracked the Sabres lineup during the 2003-04 season, when in 48 games he scored 9 goals and 19 points.
Roy played 80 of the team's 82 games this past season, scoring 17 goals and 44 points. Statstically, his best season was 2007-08, when he scored 32 goals and 81 points.
Ott had 39 points and 156 penalty minutes in 74 games with the Stars in the 2011-12 season. A native of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Ott was selected by Dallas in the first round (25th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. In 566 career games with the Stars, he has totaled 220 points and 1,170 penalty minutes
Now entering his fifth NHL season, Pardy spent three seasons with the Calgary Flames before joining the Stars in 2011-12. Selected by the Flames in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the Bonavista, Newfoundland native has recorded 29 points and 157 penalty minutes in 183 career games.
