The group is particularly concerned about the lack of rainfall in the region over the past few weeks, says group chairman Paul Maurer.
Re-Tree has planted more than 24,000 trees in 18 communities of Western New York since 2007.
Maurer says the trees need watering to steward and nuture them through their early years -- saying a homeowner or a business owner's attention to this matter is "vital."
He says all the tree needs is a deep watering a couple times a week with a regular garden hose laid on the soil and on a slow trickle till the ground is sufficiently soaked.
Between 20-and-40 gallons of water are recommended for a good watering, Maurer adds.
He also notes there are gator bags -- or ooze tubes -- that people can purchase at a nursery that hold between 20-and-30 gallons of water, and therefore only need to be filled when the water is depleted.
In warmer weather, that means about once or twice a week, he says.
Maurer says they are ideal because they encourage deep root growth, which is the best root development for any tree.
