This time he says it is for real.  Len Lenihan, the Erie County Democratic Party Chair for the past decade is stepping down when his term ends in September.

The announcement, in a letter released Monday evening,  comes months after he actually announced -- and then rescinded - his resignation amid dealmaking designed to remove him and heal some of the rifts between then Assemblyman Sam Hoyt and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown .

The letter, below, says Lenihan informed County Executive Mark Poloncarz of the decision, and appears to nod toward his role as the de facto head of the party.
