Depew (WBEN) -- A teenage girl is dead, and another person injured, after a car careened across the intersection of Broadway and Penora St. in Depew, and damaged a nearby pizzeria.

"A vehicle driving eastbound on Broadway crossed over all the median lanes and struck a pedestrian on the side of the road. That pedestrian was pronouned dead at the scene," says Lt. Jerome Miller with the Depew Police Department.

Depew Police identify the victim as 18 year old Ashley Creighton, and police have not said whether the driver will be charged.

"We still have to check the vehicle for malfunctions, and we did take the operator of the vehicle in for drug testing," Miller says.

Penora Pizza was damaged and the front wall of the building is apparently in danger of collapse.

Broadway was closed between Brunswick and Transit Roads for a time Monday morning, but has since reopened.
