Woman Charged in Fatal Accident



Newfane, NY (WBEN) Niagara County Sheriff's deputies say a woman who struck a bicyclist was texting behind the wheel.

Deputies say 25 year old Alicia Westgate was driving along Transit Road in Newfane when she struck 68 year old Richard Webb, who was on his bike at the time of the incident July 16th.

Webb died at the scene.

After an investigation, Sheriff's deputies charged Westgate with texting while driving, reckless driving, speeding and failure to use due care

GOOD!! She should be charged.
As far as I am concerned she should be charged with vehicular manslaughter. Idiots texting while driving are as dangerous as someone drunk and driving. Send a message to her instead of her sending and recieving them. Just WHAT message was worth the life of the guy on the bicycle???
