Outpouring of Help for Johnson Family
Wilson, NY (WBEN) It's been two weeks since the house explosion that claimed the life of 14 year old Sarah Johnson and destroyed the family home, and the outpouring of support continues. That's not surprising to a Wilson native and Niagara County Sheriff.
"It's been absolutely amazing, and honestly the small things that are going on, no one knows about," says Sheriff James Voutour. "This community has wrapped its arms around the Johnson family doing what it can."
Among the little things, the planning of the service for the Johnsons, getting the family housing and their needs, and to and from the hospital. "You don't hear about that in the media, and nobody does it to be in the media. They just know the family needs help, and they do it because it needs to be done."
Voutour says everyone can feel for the Johnson family. "Certainly anyone with children can't imagine losing a child like that and losing all their possessions," says Voutour. He says it's been an emotional time, but the people have done a great job.
