Jefferson Elementary To Close



Kenmore, NY (WBEN) -- The Ken-Ton School board has voted to close Thomas Jefferson Elementary at the conclusion of the 2013-14 school year.

Superintendent Mark Mondonaro tells WBEN the decision came following a look at projected enrollment reports, and Jefferson Elementary ended up on the chopping block.

About 190 students would be moved to other schools in 2014-15. Declining enrollment in the entire district is one of the reasons listed for the decision.

The board estimates the move could save the district $2.5 million.
