Alden, NY (WBEN) About 1,400 NYSEG customers in Lancaster were without power this morning after someone broke into the Walden Avenue substation.
Erie County Sheriff's deputies are investigating and searching for the person who stole copper ground wire.
The company cut off power to make repairs, that power is now back on.
The wire was carrying 12,000 volts of electricity.

Sometime somebody is going to try to steal some copper and fry themselves to a crisp. Stupidity has replaced common sense and drugs fuel the copper thefts.....
