The AAA reports the average price for a gallon of gas in the region is up to $3.83, a jump of seven cents in the past week. Nationally, the average per gallon price is eleven cents lower.

In order to get back $381.5 million its owed from M&T Bank, the U.S. Treasury Department is offering up over 380,000 Series A and C shares. Last May, M&T paid back $218.5 million of the TARP money it borrowed. M&T shares ended the day Thursday up slightly at $86.84.

Business First reports work has begun on the conversion of the former White Brothers Livery Building on Jersey Street. The $3.4 million project underway would convert the site into a 14-unit apartment property.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports California and New York ranked first and second among 32 states to see retail job gains through the first six months of 2012.
