Lanier helps officials announce Game Changers program

Buffalo (WBEN) -- A basketball Hall of Famer has helped city officials announce a new basketball program to keep teens off the streets.

Former NBA star and Buffalo native Bob Lanier joining city officials Friday afternoon to discuss the eight-week camp.

It's called "Game Changers," and begins Friday night at the Delavan Grider Community Center.

The city says it's meant to steer 10- to 18-year-old boys and girls away from drugs and crime.

Lanier says the program is about changing the mindset of young people.

The program is open to 125 kids -- and runs from 6 p.m. through  9 p.m. on Friday nights through October 5th.

It's paid for through money seized during drug investigations.
