The AAA reports the local average cost for a gallon of unleaded gas in the area has soared twenty-two cents in the past month to $3.85. That closely mimics the national price increase of twenty-six cents in a month to $3.72.

The number of government jobs in New York State declined slightly compared to a year ago. The actual drop was 19-hundred position, according to analysis done by On Numbers, a daily demographic blog from American City Business Journals. New York still has the third-most government jobs among the 50 states, behind only California and Texas.

Amherst's Industrial Development Agency approved expansion plans from Amherst Stainless Fabricating LLC and also approved an incentive plan to finance the $1.3 million project. Business First reports work on the 14,000 square foot addition will begin this fall.
