Need A Break From The Heat? Think Snow

Lewiston, ME (WBEN) While we still have a week to go until Labor Day, the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a return of wintry conditions this year to the Great Lakes and Northeast. The Almanac notes that last year was the fourth warmest winter on record but we are not expected to see a repeat performance and that very well may be good news given the heat, humidity and drought that has engulfed much of the nation.
The Almanac predicts that most of the east, including areas of the Gulf Coast will see snowier than normal conditions while the western half of the U.S. will be relatively warm and dry. Fans of the Almanac say its famous long-range forecast is accurate between 80 and 85 percent of the time.
