Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Former Buffalo Mayor Anthony Masiello will not run for the chairmanship of the Erie County Democratic Committee. He issued a statement Tuesday.

“After much reflection with my family, partners and loyal supporters, I have concluded that for personal and professional reasons, I am not a candidate for the chairmanship,” Masiello said. 

“This decision is in the best interests of my family and our firm.  I am most grateful to Governor Cuomo for his understanding and acceptance of my decision.

“Under the governor’s leadership, Buffalo and Erie County’s position continues to improve every day, and as we move forward, I am confident that positive trend will continue,” Masiello said.

Masiello is president of Masiello, Martucci, Calabrese and Associates.
