Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A former Buffalo Common Councilmember has traded City Hall for a jail cell. Brian Davis was sentenced for stealing city funds.
Davis, who resigned in disgrace in 2009 after admitting to misusing campaign funds, will spend one year and one day in jail for stealing $48,000 in city funds while serving as Ellicott District Councilmember.
Davis admitted to taking discretionary funds intended for community groups in his district and putting it into his personal account. In May, Davis stole money from community groups who received money from his office by arranging for the groups to give back some of the money to him or his friends.
In addition to jail time, Davis will have two years supervised release and must pay back the money he stole.
