He was in a Detroit area hospital last week. The team did not disclose why Mr. Wilson was taken to the hospital.
Bills Coach Chan Gailey mentioned Wilson's release during his Wednesday news conference. "We talked before he went into the hospital, but I have not spoken with him since he got home yesterday. I'm sure we'll talk soon," says Gailey.
Wilson had hip surgery in spring 2011, and his health has slipped, making it difficult for him to travel. He was able to attend only one Bills home game last season.
Mr. Wilson is 93 years old. He founded the Bills in 1959 as part of the American Football League.
