Kenmore, NY (WBEN) Kenmore will soon become the home of a Trader Joe's store. It's expected to open late next year.
The Kenmore Village Improvement Society spearheaded a campaign to get the popular grocery store chain to Western New York. "We're thrilled to have played a role in attracting Trader Joe's to the area," says Melissa Foster, KVIS President. "Most private corporations do not choose to credit community groups with encouraging them to consider opening in their community, but the KVIS is confident that our campaign helped to encourage enthusiastic dialogue and awareness of the store."
Foster says there's no word on where specifically the store will be placed, but she predicts, "it'll be in a major corridor." She says a community with a Trader Joe's is big. " In some ways, having a Trader Joe's is a status symbol," says Foster. "Because it's so cool, they have a devout following, and if you have a Trader Joe's, your community is there."
"They have wonderful products. They have cool products that change along with some staples," adds Foster. "They have excellent pricepoints with their quality products and it's a real gift to the community to have it here."
Trader Joe's is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2013. However, late Monday, a Trader Joe's spokesperson said there is no area location to confirm.
If this is true I am one happy woman! Please tell me it is true, Kenmore or anywhere within 50 miles would be most excellent! Fell in love with Trader Joe's while in California and have made stops in Cleveland on the way to Nashville to visit family. Doing a tentative happy dance here in Kenmore!

Although I'd like to have one nearby...
I'm wondering what the traffic will be like if it was on Delaware (assuming that's where Kenmore originally thought they'd be getting one).
Rush hour through the village is busy enough as it is.

Coming to WNY, not Kenmore
Trader Joe's is coming to WNY but Kenmore is not the location. The Kenmore Village Improvement Society (KVIS) was told that the store scheduled opening is in the 4th quarter of next year.
