Buffalo Naval Park

Chosen because of the region's central importance in the War of 1812, Buffalo will be the final U.S. port on a cruise across the country that includes stops in New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Baltimore, Boston, and the Great Lakes, according to the park's website.

The Navy Week events include the arrival of some tall ships from both the U.S. and Canada at Canalside -- and a welcoming celebration set for 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
