Cheektowaga, NY (WBEN) A 69 year old woman crossing the street was struck by a Cheektowaga Police car late Thursday morning.
Captain Jim Speyer tells WBEN a patrol supervisor was on the road when his car struck the woman at the intersection of Borden and French. "The officer was on routine patrol when the accident occurred," says Speyer. Speyer says accident investigators are talking to witnesses, and the Erie County Sheriff's Office and District Attorney's office were notified to provide a neutral set of eyes in the investigation and bring in transparency.
The woman suffered a broken leg, and Speyer says she was taken to ECMC. The officer involved was not hurt. "We don't believe speed was involved," says Speyer.
The intersection was closed for about three hours.
Or talking on the phone while driving. Cops are the ABSOLUTE WORST offenders of this law they are supposted to be enforcing.

Cheektowaga resident
I have witnessed a Cheektowaga police vehicle in my neighborhood making excessively fast right turns at a stop sign near my house without even attempting to stop.Maybe it should be brought to their attention that laws should be adhered to by them also.Let's protect our residents!
