NDSU, U of Texas Lift Evacuation Orders After Earlier Threats

Fargo, ND (AP) North Dakota State University officials are lifting the order evacuating the campus after receiving a bomb threat. The University of Texas also received a bomb threat, forcing an earlier evacuation.

NDSU issued a statement shortly before 10 a.m. Friday telling all employees and students to leave campus within a half-hour because of a bomb threat. The evacuation order was lifted just before 1p.m., with the campus reopening at that time..

The University of Texas says all university buildings have been cleared and are reopening after a bomb threat prompted an evacuation of the Austin campus.

The university posted on its website that all classes have been canceled for the remainder of the day Friday but other university activities will resume by 5 p.m.

The school had issued and alert shortly before 10 a.m. Friday telling people to immediately evacuate all campus buildings and "get as far away as possible" after the school received a phoned-in bomb threat.

It is not known if the two threats are related.

More than 14,000 students are enrolled at NDSU.
