Semi Topples School Bus; Child Hurt

PEMBROKE, N.Y. (AP/WBEN) - A small school bus tipped onto its side after being hit by a tractor-trailer in Pembroke, sending its lone rider, a 4-year-old boy, to the hospital.

Authorities tell local media outlets the child was checked out and released.

Genesee County Sheriff's officials say the accident happened Monday on Route 5 in Pembroke. The bus was making a left turn into a driveway when it was hit from behind, spun and overturned.

The child complained of head pain and was examined at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. Neither the bus driver nor the truck driver was hurt.

The truck driver -- 66-year-old James Persons of Mill Village, PA -- was ticketed for following too closely, having an overweight truck and other violations.
