Despite the lockout- which could be over with as early as this evening's game-- gamblers still plunked down dollars on whether the Bills cover the spread. Though one bookmaker says a controversial call Monday has led to some unhappy bettors.
"People are still watching the games, people are still bettng on the games," says Brian Blessing of donbest.com.
"The problem was, half the bettors get angry when the calls go against them, the bets are tailored toward two way action."
You can count Blessing among those angry over Monday night's controversial call. "I had the Packers at minus 3 1/2 points, and there was quite the uproar after the game."
Blessing says while there were discussions about it, the replacement refs have not affected the lines set for each game. "It's like trying to predict a turnover, you can't" explains Blessing. "The bottom line is the numbers are numbers based on the power rankings of the teams, and you can't far between the lines and predict how the referee crews will call it."
Blessing says no one wants a fair playing field more than Vegas oddsmakers. "They want it to be as above board as possible, so everyone, players and oddsmakers get a fair shake, and that would make is to we're back to relying on these guys for the most part who make the right calls and know the rules," notes Blessing.
