Debate viewing party set for The Sidebar on Hertel

Buffalo (WBEN) -- Some people are planning to watch tonight's debate at a local viewing party.

Erie County Democrats are co-sponsoring the event at The Sidebar along Hertel Avenue. The event begins at 8:30 tonight.

Organizer Marc Odien -- the managing editor of WNYmedia.net -- says it's a chance to get people together and get motivated for November.

"A little more than a month left before the election, and not just the presidential election, but there's some important local races that people should be aware of," Odien says.

Plus, Odien says it's more fun to watch an event with a group of people.

The Erie County Republican Committee doesn't have an official viewing party planned for this debate, but chairman Nick Langworthy says he'll be tuned in.

"I believe this is a very important for people to take stock in what the state of this race is," Langworthy says.

He also says the GOP does plan to hold an event for one of the remaining two debates.
