The city wants $1.36 million for renovation and expansion of The Hatch restaurant at the Erie Basin Marina.  That money would be used for a second story patio.  It would also seed a new ice cream stand next to the restaurant.  Increased attendance at 425 events this summer spurred the expansion call.

The FDIC's annual deposit market share report reveals that M&T Bank is still number one among Western New York depositors, with $14.3 billion.  First Niagara Financial Group ranks #2, leap-frogging HSBC.  First Niagara has $8.8 billion in local deposits; much of that due to its purchase of HSBC's upstate retail franchise operations.

Cleveland BioLabs has received orphan drug status for a drug under development that could treat a form of liver cancer.
