Siena Poll: 47 Percent of NYers Not Better Off than 4 Years Ago



Buffalo, NY (WBEN0 Siena College's annual poll on the state of New Yorkers' economic feelings are out. A plurality of New Yorkers feel they are not better off now than they were four years ago. 35 percent say they are better off.

The poll finds the state evenly split on the nation's economic future. 50 percent believe the nation's economic woes are temporary and will recover while the other half believes the nation's best days financially are behind us.

The poll also finds a large majority supporting increasing federal income taxes on people making $250,000 a year. A majority also backs increasing exploration and development of natural gas and oil domestically.

The poll finds New Yorkers split on whether the health care reform act should be repealed. 43 percent are opposed, 40 percent are in favor.
