It was a bittersweet reunion for members of the French Connection, one of Buffalo hockey’s all-time greatest lines. A bronze statue was unveiled Friday in their honor at the First Niagara Center. One member missing was for Sabre great Rick Martin, who passed away unexpectedly last year. Martins son Cory was in attendance, and represented Martin at the ceremony. The statue unveiling came the night before the Sabres were scheduled to play their NHL home opener, cancelled because of the current NHL lockout.
