Late Priest's Sister Calls Bauerle

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - She's comforted by the outpouring of support after the death of her brother, but  Father Joe Moreno's sister thinks the full story has yet to come out.

Those on the scene when Father Moreno was found dead, including several longtime friends,  say it appeared to be a suicide, with a gun found near his body.
"He did not do, what they said that he did," said Suzie Moreno, Father Joe's sister who called into the Tom Bauerle Show on WBEN. "He was no coward. He was a brave, brave man."

The Roman Catholic priest has served as a chaplain for first responders in Buffalo, but has also been known to respond to the scene of any tragedy in Western New York, like the Clarence scene of the crash of Flight 3407. Fr. Moreno also spent time in New York City in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

As the leader at St Lawrence Parish on E. Delevan Avenue on Buffalo's East Side, Fr. Moreno was know for his work with the needy of the area, running a food pantry, and hosting an annual Thanksgiving dinner.

Fr. Moreno's sister told Bauerle that while he took care of everyone, "the diocese did not take care of him," though she didn't elaborate.

"He was a brave hero," said Ms. Moreno. "Who ever he met, he took in, and gave everything that he had to give."
