The ECIDA approved a budget for 2013 that reflects a 12% increase from the year before.  That body also approved tax incentive or abatement plans for Sustainable BioPower, LLC; Wendt Manufacturing Corporation and Goldman Titanium.

Univera Healthcare has been approved for a 10.4% rate increase next year by the state Financial Services Department.  Similar rate hike approvals were granted last week to HealthNow NY and Independent Health.

National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation anticipates heating costs for this winter will go up $8.40 per month on average.  Part of that is based on last winter's record warmth that resulted in a 17.8% decrease in heating costs compared to 2010-2011.
NYSERDA awarded eight separate $250,000 grants to state firms to advance their development of advanced energy storage technologies.  Graphene Devices Ltd of Williamsville was among those companies.
