Jury finds Mohamud guilty in death of steps

BUFFALO (AP/WBEN) - A jury on Thursday found Ali-Mohamed Mohamud guilty of second degree murder in the April death of his stepson.

The defendant was convicted of beating his 10-year-old stepson to death with a rolling pin.

A lawyer for Ali-Mohamed Mohamud told a jury in Buffalo during closing arguments that while Mohamud intended to hurt his son, he did not mean to kill him. The prosecutor told jurors that Mohamud clearly meant to kill the boy.

Mohamud did not take the stand during the trial, which began Monday.

Prosecutors say Mohamud bound Abdifatah Mohamud's hands and mouth with duct tape and hit the boy about 70 times with a wooden rolling pin last April.

Mohamud faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

As long as it's a different plan it's ok.
