Schumer: Bills games in Hamilton 'makes no sense'

Buffalo (WBEN) -- At least one high profile Bills supporter doesn't think much of the plan to have team play home games in Ontario.

When asked about the plan to have the Bills play home games in Hamilton, Ont., U.S. Senator Charles Schumer had this to say.

"I think moving a stadium to the Canadian side makes no sense," Schumer said.

He noted it's nothing against local developer Rocco Termini, who announced his plan on Tuesday. Termini believes the Bills would have a better chance at raising revenue through corporate suites in Hamilton than locally in Western New York.

Schumer said he's concerned about those fans in the suburbs who'd have to travel across the border to watch the team's games.

Schumer's also aware of the downtown stadium proposal, but thinks the current efforts are best for the franchise.

"So, I thinka  rehab[iliation] solution that's less costly and keeps the Bills in Buffalo for a long period of time is the most logical way to go," Schumer said.

And he didn't have a lot to say because he's not directly involved in the lease talks, but Schumer believes things are moving along smoothly on the ongoing discussions, he said.
