(WBEN/NYSP) On Sunday October 28th at approximately 2:20 Am, Troopers assigned to the SP Collins barracks responded to a Cattaraugus County E-911 call of a person shot at 10974 Whites Drive in the Town of Perrysburg on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. The Troopers located the victim, Charles F. White, 23 year old Steamburg New York resident in the yard of the residence with multiple gun shot wounds. The victim was transported from the scene to Erie County Medical Center; where he is listed in critical condition.
The investigation at the scene by the Troopers and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation led to the arrest of Maxwell B. Mohawk, 19 years old of 10972 Whites Drive Perrysburg. Mohawk is accused of shooting the victim multiple times with a .45 cal ACP Hi-Point Arms pistol at close range following a verbal dispute.
Upon conferring with Cattaraugus County District Attorney Lori Rieman, Mohawk has been charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree a Class B Felony, Assault 1st Degree a Class B Felony and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree a Class C Felony. Mohawk was arraigned in the Town of Perrysburg Court before Honorable Judge Lori Dankert and was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail in Little Valley on $100,000 bail or $200,000 bond.
The State Police was assisted at the scene by the Cattaraugus County Sheriffs Department, Gowanda Police, North Collins Police and Seneca Nation Marshals.
