Mychajliw Wins County Comptroller's Race



Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Former TV reporter Stefan Mychajliw will become Erie County's new fiscal watchdog. He defeated David Shenk Tuesday night.

"It is a great night to be in the Grand Old Party!" exclaimed Mychajliw in his acceptance speech. "From this day forward, I will be a humble servant, not a politician," promised the one-time journalist, who pointed to his past job in pledging to hold politicians accountable as comptroller.


"We pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Erie County political history," says Mychajliw.
 
With 97 percent of the precincts reporting, Mychajliw led Shenk by 11,000 votes.
