NHL, Union will meet again on Friday

NEW YORK (AP/WBEN) - Reporters following the NHL negotiations say Thursday's meeting has ended, and the two sides will get together again on Friday.

The NHL is said to be considering a couple of proposals from the union -- one regarding the "Make Whole" provision on player contracts.

The third straight day of talks in the NHL lockout resumed Thursday afternoon.  This is the 54th day of the lockout, and this week is considered critical in the effort to save the NHL season.

Owners and players already have bargained now for more than 16 hours over three days this week at an undisclosed site in New York. Little information about the talks has been disclosed by either side.

Thursday's session marked the fourth time in six days that face-to-face negotiations have taken place after both sides rejected proposals Oct. 18.

The lockout began Sept. 16 after the collective bargaining agreement expired. It has forced the cancellation of 327 regular-season games, including the New Year's Day Winter Classic in Michigan.
