"Buffalo gets its gas from either the Great Lakes or the New York area via different pipelines," says Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy.com. He says there have been no problems in the areas near New York City where Buffalo can get its gas. "The problem is not necessarily gas supply in the area, it's getting it from the terminal to the gas pump," explains DeHaan. Terminals were damaged by the superstorm.
As for gas prices here, Buffalo is paying $3.90 a gallon now, and DeHaan says the downward trend will continue, and we could pay as much as 15 cents less a gallon come Thanksgiving.
