Buffalo, NY (WBEN) -- Snow is a familiar sight in Western New York.
Just not recently.
When today's expected snowfall settles on metro Buffalo, it will mark the first time since February that an inch or more of snowfall is measured at the airport office of the National Weather Service.
Officially, there have been 276 consecutive days without at least an inch of snow -- since February 22. That is the third-longest streak since the NWS started keeping its records (301 straight days from 1923 into 1924, and 282 days in 1948).
The last remaining Lake Snow Advisory has been canceled. The National Weather Service says lake snow bands have weakened and are shifting a little farther to the north, but also, that it's possible that a well developed band may even extend across Genesee into Orleans county.
For now, though, their forecast is for an inch or less in Niagara and Orleans Counties -- 1 to 2 inches in the rest of the region.
Accu-weather is calling for more -- 2 to 4 inches of snow showers today.
