Clarence, NY (WBEN) There is a police presence at Clarence High School today. This after a social media threat of a student bringing a weapon into the building.

Principal Ken Smith issued a statement on the district's web site:

Dear Parents,

You may be aware of a rumor that has been circulating on social media sites that a student planned on bringing a weapon to school.  Please know that the high school administration was made aware of the rumor early last evening and, with the help of the State Troopers, we thoroughly investigated and deemed the rumor to be totally false and without merit.  School is safe.
